Cindy Pacyk's Artist Statement

My work depicts emotional landscapes that draw from forms found in nature. These pieces evoke a sense of place that is familiar yet altered. The many layers of paint create a history in each work; these layers both conceal and reveal at the same time. The creation of my work takes me on an emotional journey and a time that I feel an inner peace where my restless body and mind can be calm.

My works engage the viewer physically and forces them to interact on an incredibly intimate level that later engulfs and encroaches on their space creating a sense of overwhelming unease. Bold colors, textures and marks all activate the space, while smaller more subtle elements remain for the viewer to sort through and therefore find pieces of themselves. This helps the viewer engage in an interaction with the piece they are looking at and exploring.
